Test Series & Answer Writing

Scores do not rise by taking tests. They rise by reading the evaluated copy — which is where our attention goes.

Papers in the actual RJS Mains format

Every full paper follows the Rajasthan High Court pattern — Law Paper I (Civil Law) and Law Paper II (Criminal Law), 100 marks each and three hours each, with judgment writing and charge framing forming an integral part of the law papers. Same marks distribution, same choice pattern, same answer-booklet discipline. Hindi and English essay papers of two hours are conducted separately, so the language papers are not left to chance.

Act-based papers before full-length papers

You do not begin with a whole syllabus. As each enactment is completed in class, a paper is set on that Act alone — CPC, Evidence, Transfer of Property, Contract, Limitation, Specific Relief and Rent Control etc. on the civil side; BNS, BNSS, Sakshya Adhiniyam, the Negotiable Instruments Act, POCSO, the JJ Act and the allied special Acts etc. on the criminal side. Weakness is isolated Act by Act, while there is still time to correct it.

Subject-wise papers — Law Paper I and Law Paper II

Act-based tests are then combined into full Paper I and Paper II papers, so you learn to manage a mixed syllabus, allocate time between short notes, problem questions and the judgment portion, and finish the paper — the single most common reason good candidates lose marks.

Previous years' papers under examination conditions

Past RJS papers are conducted in real time — three hours, seated and invigilated in the offline centre, or under proctored conditions online. The examiner's own questions tell you what he values; nothing prepares a candidate faster than writing what has actually been asked.

Evaluation by the bench, not by a key

Copies are marked by Ex-District & Sessions Judges. The judgment and charge/issue-framing portions are marked separately from the substantive answers, because that is how they are read. Each copy is returned with written remarks — on reasoning, structure, citation and language — followed by a class discussion and a model answer for the paper.

A written record of progress

Marks of every test, Act-wise and paper-wise, are maintained for each student, so improvement is measurable and revision is directed to where the marks are actually being lost.

The schedule, the number of tests and the fees are fixed for each examination cycle. For the current cycle, please send an enquiry or message us on +91 82900 97006.

What we look for while evaluating

  • Whether the provision is correctly cited — the section, the statute and its current nomenclature, and, where the new codes apply, the corresponding earlier provision noted.
  • Whether the real question has been identified. Most marks are lost before the first line is written, by answering a question the paper did not ask.
  • Whether the law has been applied to the facts, and not merely reproduced. A correct statement of the provision followed by a conclusion, with nothing in between, is an incomplete answer.
  • Structure — the balance between the factual matrix of the case, appreciation of evidence and conclusion, and whether the answer moves in a straight line instead of circling back.
  • Whether the judgment portion follows its statutory form — points for determination, findings with reasons on each, and the relief or sentence stated with precision, in the form prescribed for civil and criminal judgments respectively.
  • Whether the authority relied on is sound — the correct case, the ratio and not a stray observation, and nothing cited from memory that cannot be traced.
  • Language and presentation — accurate legal terminology, controlled paragraphing, consistency in Hindi or English, and handwriting an examiner can read without effort.
  • Completeness within the three hours. A brilliant half-paper scores below a competent full one; time discipline is marked, because the examination marks it.
